Vanessa Beatriz Millsaps Bio
Hola, I’m Vanessa Millsaps. At 6 years old, I started playing soccer competitively. At 15 years old, I verbally committed to play Division 1 soccer at the University of Washington. At 22 years old, I was offered a lucrative contract to play soccer professionally in Mexico while receiving my masters degree. With every step forward, I realized I was living the dream. Yet beyond the milestones themselves, each chapter of my journey has always revealed something deeper.
From my undergraduate experience, to my master’s program, to my exposure to NIL and the professional sports world, I found myself drawn not only to achievement, but to understanding the larger purpose behind it all. For the last eight years I have been working in digital media and journalism, working to improve online media landscapes for growing companies connected to sports and athletics. I find beauty in sharing stories and experiences between the sports and professional world.
Each transition introduced me to a new version of myself. I grew increasingly curious, reflective, and eager to understand the “why” that drives decisions, systems, and opportunities within sports and beyond.
â
I have constantly been able to connect with another version of myself that I never knew existed and for that I am beyond privileged and blessed. Through my work experiences, I have become very passionate towards contributing within media and marketing in sport, but even more so for all types of people and stories. Although I am proud of my knowledge and experiences in this field, I cannot help but feel curious towards exploring more work behind the scenes.ââ
